That's the optimization factor, where players can crash the game from triggering too many grenades at one time or fill your screen with other sorts of mayhem. It does feel a bit purposeless in its current stages, but that's OK for the moment. It gives you endless options to live and die by the gun, sword, grenade - pretty much everything. The competition promotes the idea of open-world silliness, much to the player's content. It would be easy to pan on the game, considering the franchise doesn't have the most glistening reputation. But the most important thing - is it entertaining?Īs much as you'd hate to say it, Postal 4: No Regerts is pretty fun. Yep, it already has all the hallmarks of a cult classic. Animations are intentionally poor, visuals are relatively average, and the gameplay is weird. However, the developers have embraced the comedy value and cultish poorness even more than before.

Nothing much has changed in Postal 4: No Regerts early access. That includes smuggling migrants, hits-for-hire, and other outlandish tasks that no one seems to want to do. However, the gameplay mainly consists of doing odd jobs to meet ends. Every town he settles in has some story that aligns with the game's overall objectives. You'll play as Postal dude, a drifter that causes damage, death, and despair wherever he sees to end up.

So let's recap on the core gameplay that defines the series. But here we are with Postal 4: No Regerts making a triumphant return to the open-world first-person shooter fold. It invites most to believe that the franchise was probably dead in the water. The only saving grace that might have saved it is being funny, and it just isn't, at least not to me.

The performance is awful, the gameplay is buggy and stiff, and the entire thing looks like it was made about 20 years ago on a Windows XP machine. It's been a while since the predecessor's release, which can be argued as one of the worst games-nearly ten years.
